Turn off the water supply running to your toilet.
Toilet flush handle broke off.
Lift the top off of the toilet tank and unhook the chain that s attached to the old handle.
Loosen the mounting nut that attaches the flush handle to the inside of the tank and remove the old handle.
Place the lid out of the way on the floor or sturdy table to avoid knocking it onto the floor.

Locate the knob behind your toilet and turn it.
Flush handles cost as little as 4 and are easy to install.
Slide the nut back over the arm and hand turn it onto the handle base again remembering that it s likely a left handed thread.
Remove the nut from the new handle and insert the arm into the hole.
Use a soapy scrub sponge to clean any mildewor rust stains off the porcelain around the handle hole.
These are typically reverse threaded so turn clockwise to remove and counterclockwise to install.
Fixing or replacing a broken flush lever or toilet handle is an easy five minute job that anyone can do.
